Kids program

Kids Taekwondo (ages 6–12)

Focus, confidence and respect — taught through an hour of kicks, games and high-fives. Your child’s first class is free.

Big energy, pointed in a great direction

Kids are natural movers. Taekwondo gives all of that energy a purpose. In every class, children practice listening the first time, waiting their turn, bowing to their partners, and trying again when something is hard.

The belt system turns those lessons into goals kids can see. Every few months there’s a new technique to master and a new color to earn, and every belt is earned — not handed out. That’s where real confidence comes from.

Because kids train in the same class as teens and adults, they’re surrounded by positive role models — including, very often, their own parents.

What kids gain

  • Listening skills & focus
  • Self-confidence & a strong voice
  • Coordination, balance & fitness
  • Respect & good manners
  • Anti-bullying & stranger-safety skills
  • Goal setting, one belt at a time

What your child will learn

Kicks, blocks & strikes

The fundamentals of Taekwondo, taught step by step with lots of repetition and encouragement.

Forms (hyung)

Choreographed patterns that build memory, concentration and power.

Safety skills

How to escape a grab, use a strong voice, and walk away from trouble.

Respect & etiquette

Bowing, “yes sir / yes ma’am,” and courtesy that carries over to home and school.

Kids who pick up on a program will find that they are calm, more relaxed, and more focused. They (and you as a parent) will notice their grades getting better, and will start being more attentive and disciplined at home.

Common questions

Will my child get hurt?

Safety is our first priority. Kids learn controlled technique, partner drills are closely supervised, and sparring is introduced gradually with protective gear.

My child is shy. Is Taekwondo a good fit?

Often it’s the perfect fit. Kids practice using a confident voice (the kihap!) and performing in front of the group in a supportive setting. Many quiet kids blossom on the mat.

Can I stay and watch?

Absolutely. Parents are always welcome to watch — or better yet, join in.
